He / Him
Solomon Gray is an Auckland based actor, singer and dancer whose work spans major musical theatre productions, international screen projects and New Zealand television. In 2026, he performed in the ensemble of the New Zealand premiere of the global hit musical & Juliet, touring to The Civic in Auckland, the St James Theatre in Wellington and the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch. The production brought together performers from New Zealand and Australia for a high energy pop musical featuring the music of Max Martin, giving Solomon valuable professional experience across an extended commercial theatre season.
Originally from Palmerston North, Solomon developed his foundations in musical theatre through community and youth productions with Abbey Musical Theatre, including Hair and Cats. His performance background combines singing, acting and strong movement ability, with a baritone to tenor vocal range and training in jazz dance. His casting in & Juliet builds naturally on this experience and positions him as a versatile musical theatre performer suited to contemporary pop musicals, ensemble work, character roles and productions requiring confident actor musicianship, vocal adaptability and precise choreography.
Solomon also brings substantial screen experience to the stage. His credits include Spartacus: House of Ashur for Lionsgate Television and Starz Originals, Tim Thornton in the iconic New Zealand television series Shortland Street, and work as a dancer in Disney’s Zombies 4. This combination of international production experience, screen presence and live performance skill makes him a strong option for musical theatre productions seeking performers who can connect with an audience while meeting the demands of commercial choreography, ensemble storytelling and character driven performance.
He continues to develop his craft through ongoing screen training with Elena Stejko at Actors Studio, alongside workshops and masterclasses with Juliet Furness and Les Chantery. His earlier training includes the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy and intensive screen work with Liz Mullane and Rachel Bullock. Solomon also offers a broad accent range, including standard and Southern American, French, South African and London English, strengthening his suitability for both locally produced and international musical theatre.
