Tamara Azizian is a Moscow-born, Auckland-based creative of Russian and Armenian heritage, bringing authentic cultural understanding and fluent Russian language skills to screen, voice and commercial work. Her background in documentary filmmaking, photography and writing gives her a strong instinct for character, natural dialogue and the subtle details that make a story feel real.
Her screen experience includes co-directing the feature documentary The Doctor’s Wife, which premiered at the MÄoriland Film Festival in 2025, and writing for the comedy web series I Date Rejects. She has also worked in television production, digital content and videography, with a particular focus on migrant and refugee communities and stories of cultural identity.
Tamara holds a Master’s degree in Creative Writing, specialising in scriptwriting, from Auckland University of Technology, completed in 2018, and has trained at South Seas Film and Television School. Her work behind the camera has given her a practical understanding of performance, storytelling and the demands of production.
Fluent in Russian, with an authentic Russian accent and lived experience across Russian and New Zealand cultures, Tamara offers casting directors a valuable option for Russian speaking roles, voiceover, documentary and culturally specific screen projects. She brings a thoughtful, observant approach to performance and a genuine understanding of the people and stories she helps bring to screen.
