Gary Hofman is an actor and creator from Tāmaki Makaurau. He studied at the University of Auckland, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Arts. Law wasn’t really his thing, and after his undergraduate studies, he completed a Master of Arts in Drama. His thesis focused on ethics and representation in theatre, and he was awarded first-class honours.
Both Gary's creative and academic practices are rooted in his cultural heritage. Gary is Jewish, with Germany, Poland, and Lithuania heritage. Gary is also a lover of comedy and humour, which often influences his creative work.
Beyond acting, Gary is a versatile artist, contributing to the industry as a writer, director, and arts administrator —he does love a spreadsheet!
