She / Her
Jo Holley (Ngāti Porou) is a versatile screen actor whose work spans television, film and theatre, bringing warmth, intelligence and emotional depth to every performance.
Her early career included stage work as Shelby Eatenton in Steel Magnolias, alongside appearances across New Zealand television in series such as Young Hercules, The Mike King Show and Amazing Extraordinary Friends, as well as a range of comedy sketch productions. These early roles helped establish Jo’s natural screen presence and instinct for character driven storytelling.
Her screen work has also been recognised through short films including The Waiting Room and Glow, with Glow receiving accolades at the 48 Hour Film Festival. Jo’s feature film credits include Sione’s Wedding: Unfinished Business and Players, adding further range to a body of work that moves comfortably between drama, comedy and contemporary screen storytelling.
Alongside her acting career, Jo spent more than a decade working internationally as a television presenter and host. Through live television, documentary and hosting roles she developed a strong on camera confidence, quick improvisational instincts and a natural connection with audiences that continues to inform her acting work.
Recently returning to scripted performance with Blind Bitter Happiness, Jo brings a wealth of life experience and emotional authenticity to the screen. She continues to refine her craft through ongoing training with Peter Feeney, Elena Stejko and Britta McVeigh.
Jo’s performances are grounded, layered and often unexpected, with strong comedic timing and the ability to move effortlessly between drama and dark humour.
